Introducing young Mr 'Barney' Rubble. A scrumptious black lad of 3 years old and 28" to the shoulder. Barney had quite bald thighs when he first came into our care but they are just beginning to grow back now and his coat will be lovely with some good old fashioned love and good food.

Location: Currently in kennels in Suffolk. Barney would love a foster home while he waits for his forever family. We are very stuck for foster homes right now with a lot of dogs in kennels, sucking up our finances. Any help that you can give at all would be hugely appreciated.
Key Points: Affectionate, sweet, tries to keep his kennel nice and clean, very good in car, seems to like children, good on the lead.

~ Personality ~
Barney is a smashing boy who always has a waggy tail for guests who come to visit him in the kennel. We feel his personality will really blossom when he gets the chance to live with a family of his own and we don't think you'll be disappointed! In the meantime if you feel you could offer a foster home to this sweet boy and help him to learn the ropes please do call us for a friendly and informal chat.

~ In the Home ~
Unfortunately Barney hasn't been given the chance to live in a home before so will need a patient and loving family to help guide him and to understand toilet training and boundaries within the home environment but we feel he will pick this up fairly quickly as he's a clever boy. . It generally takes greyhounds 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience. Louis is clean in his kennel and often this is an indication that housetraining won't be a huge problem.

~ Other Animals ~
Barney hasn't met many other dogs other than greyhounds but is very good with larger dogs. He has not been tested yet with smaller dogs yet, but this will be carried out soon. Often ex-racing greyhounds need a bit of socialisation with smaller dog breeds as they would never have seen them before, and at the start may not realise they are dogs!

~ Out and About ~
Barney is very good in the car and travels very well. He loves his walks and is good on the lead but can pull very slightly to start with. This should settle very soon though as just like his kennel mates, he is simply excited to be out! Barney will need a minimum of two 30 minute walks a day but would love slightly longer! He would love a change to stretch his legs off lead in an enclosed area away from livestock and public roads a couple of times a week.

~ Greyhounds as Pets ~ In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family environment, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the retired. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

~ Where Can I Live? ~
We feel Barney is an adaptable kind of boy and would slot happily into most family environments but would ideally have at least one other friendly canine companion to help show him the ropes. Please be aware though that we do not home dogs to families with children under 8 years of age. Barney can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a home checker available, but please note that you will be required to travel to Suffolk to meet and collect him.

~ Where Am I? ~
Barney is currently in Kennels in Suffolk. If anyone feels they could foster Barney to help him on his journey to a forever home please get in touch. It is an extremely rewarding experience and costs are covered by us.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Barney will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, deflead and wormed and a home check will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you would like to offer a new home for Barney, please contact the rescue on 075 000 626 48 and ask for Bronwen or send them an email if available.
